Economics and Finance
Economics and finance are two critical disciplines concentrating on the underlying activities of modern societies. Economics, which is a relatively old social science, analyses essential activities of production, consumption, allocation, and distribution processes in economies and aims to offer solutions to the problems related to those. In a very general sense, finance focuses on the monetary aspects of economic activities. The increasing role of financial activities, financial markets and financial institutions for the functioning of economies and for the behaviours of economic units in the past few decades has given a further basis to finance as an independent discipline.
